Mamma Mia - The Musical Movie

Finally I got to watch Mamma Mia, the musical movie at the newly additional Theater Hall 8, Growball's Cinemax and Fun Square, Centre Point Sabah. There is a 2 ways accessing to Theater Hall 8 either you take a walk up the stairs from Palm Square and a level up thru' the escalators or if you are at the 8th Floor which is the Old Growball's Cinemax, you just walk your way down the stairs.
A Karaoke Restaurant & Lounge and games arcade are also located at the same floor.
Heard that Theater Hall 8 is presently the biggest cinema in Kota Kinabalu. This is my first time entering this new hall. It is love at first sight. I was standing at the entrance which is at the top, looking down the wow view of the wide theater and the lighted stage. The seats are so comfortable and the arm-rests can be lifted up. My RM7.00 per ticket for the show is worth it. The movie is very entertaining and I really enjoy it all thru' out the show. Although the singing are not at their best, but every songs and lyrics are meaningful especially the song, the winner take it all which bring me to tears.

Actually I have been on the look out for the Mamma Mia movie since its opening in other countries. Don't know why it takes so long to show it in our country. Anyway, I am satisfied after watching the movie. If you are interested in the Mamma Mia OST, you can browse this link and the movie location in Greece. I did earlier post a trailer i.e. on July 16, 2008.

An early Birthday Celebration for my grandnephew who'll be eleven years old this coming 25th September. We attended the small gathering amongst family members at his bapa and nana (grandparents-nicknames given by their grandchildren)'s house yesterday.

The foods were ordered from a nearby restaurant. I ate a lot that night as every dish was tastefully cooked. I even finished a big slice of the blueberry simpson cake.

Happy Mooncake or Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mooncake or Mid-Autumn or Festival also known here as Tang Lung Festival falls on the 15th day of the Chinese eighth month (14.09.2008) and is celebrated to signify the end of the harvest season. As it is associated with paper lanterns, it is also called the Lantern Festival.

Every year we always celebrate the festival with a family gathering at my sister in-law's place. Tonight it rained very heavily. The kids had no chance to go out of the house to play lanterns. But still they had fun times playing constructive mind games.

Ramadan Bazaar

Muslims in Malaysia have started their fasting since September 1st, the month of Ramadan. This is the month where you can go and visit the Ramadan Bazaar to have a look at the malay food for sale which starts in the evening daily.

After finishing work, me and hubby went to the food stalls nearby my workplace, hoping to buy some food to bring home for dinner. We went from stall to stall amid the crowd, I could see spicy food, cakes and ice cool drink for sale. Ya, it was fun to watch the hawker frying the 20kg noodle in a big wok. We did not buy any food at the bazaar, instead we bought satay and ketupat from a stall at a shop. Ha ha.... my simple dinner ...Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Jackfruits

This Jackfruits tree really caught our sight with its abundunt fruits. We saw it while we were getting into our car near the Taman Hilltop Shops. The fruits are so big. I learnt that the jackfruit or nangka is the largest tree borne fruit in the world.
Take a closer look at the fruits:---

This jackfruit brought back my memories of the early years while living in my parent's house, we had this tree planted right in front of the car porch. I remembered our tree was small compared to the huge tree we spotted today. The method of cutting down the fruit was a messy business, always use a sharp knife and apply generous amount of vegetable oil onto the knife and hands otherwise it'll be hard to get rid of the whitish slimy stuff.

The fruit pulps are edible and sweet and in fact the fruits are very popular here. They can be cooked, both dry and in a gravy. I have tasted quite a number of dishes made with jackfruits, ripe or unripe. They are very tasty. Even they are batter fried or made into dessert, so yummy.
