Trip to Kowloon, Hong Kong Stop 2

We traveled to Kowloon, Hong Kong by Lowu Express Train from Shenzhen. We spent 3 days and 2 nights here. We didn't have much time to explore but we got to see the Arena of Stars at the sea front and window shopping. If you aim to buy original and branded goods, you are in the right place.

A group photo taken at the Arena of Stars

I took this yummy photo of wantan noodle.

The boys and girls were having a great time at the Disneyland theme park though they were disappointed because there were not many attractions and nothing much to see or play. The entrance fee is HK$380.00 per ticket.

Shenzhen Window of the World

Window of the World 世界之窗 is a theme park in Shenzhen where you see around the world within a day. This theme park contains over a hundred miniature replicas of famous landmarks and attractions from all over the world, e.g. the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, Pyramids of Egypt, the White House, Niagara Fall, Jurassic Park etc.

We traveled on our own. We took the Shen Zhen Metro Full Trip Fare (Lo Wu --- Window of the World) at the Lowu city railway station. Fare fee: RMB 5 per ticket. There was no fuss, it was an easy one way trip direct to your destination i.e. entrance to Window of the World. Entrance fee: RMB 120 per ticket.

Since this was my 1st visit, I was enthralled, looked around, took poses and lots of photos. So, I and the rest began our tour (if you prefer you can ride on the cable cars or go carts or pony carriages and of course if you are willing to pay), to think of $$$ we rather walk under the extremely hot hot .... sun. It took us half day to cover almost the entire world. The heat was unbearable, I have never felt that I could sweat profusely in my whole life. Yes, a reminder to those who are coming to visit during the hot summer day, pack with you drinking water, cap, umbrella, sunblock lotion and extra towels. This trip was such an exciting experience for me, it is like a one stop travel round the world and I have photos to prove it. LOL

Shopping Spree in Shenzhen

We are standing at the entrance to the Lowu Shopping Mall which is very near to the hotel we are staying i.e. Shangrila Hotel and Subway & Railway Station. Be warn, don't shop here, just go look and see. Shopping here is bad especially to tourists like us. We are likely to be cheated without knowing.
We are at the East Gate of Dongmen. We are all heading to one of Shenzhen's shopping heavens. Dongmen is a very popular local shopping district that's packed with big malls and many small shops selling a large variety of items: shoes, clothes, toys, watches, souvenirs, electronics, bubble tea, snacks, etc. Even if you are not planning to buy anything, this is a great place to stroll around to soak in the sights, sounds and smells of the city. My feet are so sore that I still have not enough. You will need to learn the tactics of bargaining and yes, this is a great place for real shopping.

Food for Thought in Shenzhen

First thought came to my mind when I think of food while in Shenzhen, I must look for real chinese food and have a taste. Wow, it was not that easy. We found the 1st eatery shop nearest to our hotel is Cafe De Coral or Tar Ka Lok. I guess, it is a very famous local fast food chain in China. You can find these types of cafes in almost the shopping centres in Shenzhen. There are lots of variety in the menus ranging from asian to western foods which you can order at a very reasonable price. I must say, a bit of different taste compared to my country.
I was told I must try the beef noodle soup. Yes, I did taste it. It came in a very big bowl with stewed spicy tofu pok (dried beancurd) as a side dish. It was quite salty and not to my liking. I liked the tofu though.

Where were everybody? They were waiting in turn for the dim sum which were served at the other end. Everybody got up on their feet, not to dance but to take their selection of dishes such as dim sum, steamed veg, steamed chicken, pan fried cakes, buns, noodles and many more. I just cannot believe it. Each person pay Renminbi 人民币 20 only for their morning breakfast. So cheap lah. Eat until you drop.
